My name is Claire Flegler, and I am the founder of Cutting Chaos and James the Collective in Far North Queensland, Australia.

From a young age, I was drawn to the world of hairdressing, as evidenced by my preschool drawing that read, “When I grow up, I want to be a hairdresser like my aunty Louise.” After 11 years in the industry, I took the leap and purchased my salon 5 years ago, marking both my greatest achievement and my most significant learning curve to date.

While I’ve always cherished the connection with my clients, I found myself craving a deeper connection with fellow professionals. That’s when the idea for Cutting Chaos was born. This community is for everyone—regardless of your experience or status—where every hair and beauty professional is welcomed, respected, and valued. Through events, retreats, and meaningful interactions, we come together to support one another, celebrate our successes, and tackle the challenges of our industries as a united force. My mission is to create an empowering space where we can all grow together, share our passion, and build a stronger, more connected community. The industry everyone wishes to be part of.

  • I recently had the privilege of attending an incredible event hosted by Claire from Hair Gallery at Salt house in Cairns, I’m still buzzing from the experience! The event was a beautiful gathering of talented hairdressers who came together to embrace the beauty and hairdressing industry and reflect on our craft. It provided the perfect space for everyone to connect, share stories, and take a step back from the daily grind to recharge. It was refreshing to see how much emphasis was placed on building a strong, supportive community within the industry.
